Rafting in Luxury: Tips from a Female Perspective

One of my favorite aspects of rafting with guests is making them feel comfortable and meeting their needs on the river. For first time rafters, it can be daunting and almost impossible to predict what it is you may need on a multi-day wild and scenic adventure. With Rogue Canyon Adventures we have a general packing list that covers the basics. However, to make the trip a bit more enjoyable here are a few tips from the female guide’s handbook.

Packing List for extra comfort

Rain boots

If it is hot or cold, one of my favorite items on the river are my Extra Tuffs as seen in the picture. Don’t get me wrong, most of the hours spent on the river, I’m in my chacos. However, in the evening after my bath, I lather my feet with lotion, put on a pair of cozy socks and my feet are protected from the elements of sand and water. Slipping of the boots, gliding my clean moisturized feet right in my sleeping bag feels great.

Sarongs

A sarong is a multi-purpose must have. I like to wear it as a quick cover up for getting on and off the boat or as a towel on the beach and boat. I also like to dip it in the water and put it over my legs or shoulders for quick sun protection. Not to mention, its great to use as a rag to clean off your boat of extra sand.

Body Creme

Time after time guests have been so grateful and thanked me for having good lotion! It sounds like a minor detail but our skin is exposed to so many elements, from sun, water and sand. This body creme is my favorite on the river. It’s made with natural ingredients, and feels amazing after a day of sand, water and sun.

Salt scub

On the last night of the river, just before the sun is about to set. I gather my toiletries and head for the boats for a salt scrub. Exfoliation and skin hydration, this maybe a little over the top. Nevertheless, your skin will thank you for it.

Eco-Conscious toiletries

On a 3, 4 or 5 day rafting trip, there is no need feeling like you have been camping. We are on the river, take a river shower! It’s fun, relaxing and you’ll feel like a human again. Just make sure it is river friendly and biodegradable.
